Security Headed in the Wrong Direction

"After four years, numerous appeals, millions of dollars, and a massive investment of government personnel and resources, the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui concluded Wednesday with a life sentence. Many have cited the case as an example of how difficult it is to try terrorists in civilian courts. In fact, it is an object lesson in how the government's overreaching has undermined our security."

These are not the words of some radical or leftie! They are the words of a Professor David Cole of Georgetown University as published in a piece "How Not to Fight Terrorism" in The Washington Post.

Read Cole's piece and appreciate how mis-directed the resources and energies to combatting terrorism in America - probably no differently in Australia - have been directed.
