The alleged catalyst for Israel attacking Hezbollah and invading Lebanon was the kidnapping of 2 of its soldiers. It was the kidnapping of a soldier which also precipitated Israel's recent drive into Gaza.

Why the double-speak? Did not Israel kidnap the Speaker? Yet another example of how the media is either sloppy or too receptive to accepting the Israeli view of things?
UPDATE - 5.15 pm 7 August: More proof of the above. The Independent reports today:
"Israel has arrested a senior Hamas leader at his home in Ramallah, expanding its original front against the Palestinians in Gaza."
Note the reference to an arrest. The headline to the article refers to a seizure.
