Now it is poised to be the critical issue in the next election. So it was hardly surprising The Australian lodged a wide-ranging freedom of information application, seeking access to the background papers used to put the package together.
Given the Government's growing antipathy to the FOI laws, it was hardly surprising, also, the application was opposed. What is remarkable is the reasons dreamt up to argue why it would be so terrible if any of these documents were released."
