It is going to be hard to find someone to defend Rupert Murdoch - and it may be that Roger Cohen, op-ed columnist for The New York Times, might not do so now that more serious revelations are coming out about the widespread illegal activities of those in the Murdoch camp, and not only at the News of the World - but Cohen does defend Murdoch, at least somewhat in this piece.
"Fair warning: This column is a defense of Rupert Murdoch. If you add everything up, he’s been good for newspapers over the past several decades, keeping them alive and vigorous and noisy and relevant. Without him, the British newspaper industry might have disappeared entirely."
