A Timely Wake Up Call

It is often said that the NY Times publishes articles which reflect the current thinking of the Administration. Whether that be correct or not, it is more than "interesting" that the Times has just published an op-ed piece by Jeremy Ben-Ami, executive director of J Street, a pro-Israel, pro-peace lobby in Washington which stands diametrically opposite the hard-line pro-Israel, no matter what, stance of AIPAC.

"Jewish Americans — who remain deeply loyal to Israel and staunch defenders of its right to exist — now face conflicting winds blowing on two continents. An overwhelming majority share the politics and worldview of President Barack Obama and have rejected the Bush-Cheney neoconservatism that framed Middle East conflict in simplistic black and white. They recognize, as the new president said in Ankara this week, that security requires peace and that peace begins by “learning to stand in somebody else’s shoes to see through their eyes.”

Yet leaders of the American Jewish community demand unquestioning loyalty to an Israeli government that has made Avigdor Lieberman its face to the world. This is a man whose platform called for loyalty oaths, whose words verge on racism and whose worldview is based on the very “us-versus-them” mentality so thoroughly discredited over the past eight years".

Reading the Chilcot Inquiry Report more closely

Most commentary on the Chilcot Inquiry Report of and associated with the Iraq War, has been "lifted" from the Executive Summary. The Intercept has actually gone and dug into the Report, with these revelations : "THE CHILCOT REPORT, the U.K.’s official inquiry into its participation in the Iraq War, has finally been released after seven years of investigation. Quinoa has for the last years been the "new" food on the block for foodies. Known for its health properties, foodies the world over have taken to it. Many restaurants have added it to their menu. There are still some - all too sadly people with a voice who are listened to - who assert that climate change is a hoax.
