Security is a mess, says IATA

TravelMole reports on a topic, aviation security, all too familiar to any traveller:

"IATA director general, Giovanni Bisignani has called aviation security “an unco-ordinated mess”.

“Since 2001 airlines and their customers have paid more than US$30 billion for security measures. For this we get more frustration than value," he said.

"Passengers face a maze of duplication, bureaucracy and hassle. This must change,” said Bisignani.

The IATA-led Simplifying Passenger Travel programme (www.spt.aero) points the way to effective, efficient and convenient security, he added."

“Now governments must do their part and focus on risk management, harmonise global standards, make better use of technology, and take responsibility for the bill,” Bisignani said.

The NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) goes on hold.....because of one non-Treaty member (Israel)

Isn't there something radically wrong here? Israel, a non-signatory to the NPT has, evidently, been the cause for those countries that are Treaty members, notably Canada, the US and the UK, after 4 weeks of negotiation, effectively blocking off any meaningful progress in ensuring the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
