Forget about debate!

Israeli peace activist Uri Avnery placed the following statement in Haaretz on March 14:

"I am shocked by the silence of the Israeli media after the government’s decision to boycott the Aljazeera network as punishment for its coverage of the bloody events in Gaza.

As journalists and citizens of the “Only Democracy in the Middle East”, it is our duty to be the first to raise our voice against this violation of the freedom of the press in our country.

The boycott will not harm Aljazeera. It will harm the State of Israel, because it puts us in line with the worst oppressive regimes in the region and the world."

Video: Israel demolishing a Bedouin village

"Israeli forces have demolished every home in the Bedouin village of Khirbet Taha in the northern West Bank district of Nablus during three separate demolitions since the start of the year. Unlike most Bedouin villages, the residents in Khirbet Taha own their own land. However that land falls in Area C, territory in the occupied West Bank under full Israeli control. Not for the first time does MPS wonder what sort of country it is when Israel so flagrently allows what can only be described as barbaric and inhuman behaviour to be undertaken by, amongst others, its IDF.
