Although not a scientific determination, probably somewhere in the order of 95% of people caught up in war or some sort of conflict - as distinct from the politicians - simply want to go about their business, live in peace, educate their children and enjoy life as best as possible. It's a thought which comes to mind when reading this report "Swaggering Tweets — And Blood In The Streets" on The Global Mail on the present Hamas-Israel conflict.
"As Israel and Hamas trade threats via Twitter, the missiles fly and innocent people die. “War is a catastrophe, for the people, not for the government,” says a doctor in Gaza City. “The people are the losers.”
On then one begins to wonder what each side's agenda in the conflict is. One analysis comes from this piece "Israel and Hamas are going to war over Gaza because conflict is in the interest of both camps" in The Independent.
And finally the real "picture" of war - note, it's the general populace, not the politicians - is so tragically on display in this photo......
