Damnable Danby?

Australian readers of this blog will be interested to see the Federal Labour Member, Michael Danby [definitely no intellectual giant there!] - who might, in reality, be re-dubbed the Member for Tel Aviv or Jerusalem - together with his cohorts skulk off to the PM's Lodge to just kinda sort out things post the Israeli attack on the flotilla.

"On Tuesday, I met with the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister to discuss a number of measures that would establish clearly Australia’s on going partnership with Israel. So a group of senior Australian Jewish leaders including Robert Goot (EIJAC), Albert Dadon (AICE), Mark Leibler (AIJAC) and Philip Chester (ZF) attended with myself and Mark Dreyfus a meeting at the Lodge with the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister. A number of other positive suggestions were made and will be revealed in time."

Shameful! If Danby is such a humanitarian, as he misrepresents, how is it that he has not once, for instance, spoken out about the plight of some 10,000 Arabs imprisoned in Israel without trial, the truly humanitarian crisis in Gaza or the IDF using Palestinian kids as human shields? And that is only the beginning of things Danby could be speaking out on.

The NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) goes on hold.....because of one non-Treaty member (Israel)

Isn't there something radically wrong here?    Israel, a non-signatory to the NPT has, evidently, been the cause for those countries that are Treaty members, notably Canada, the US and the UK, after 4 weeks of negotiation, effectively blocking off any meaningful progress in ensuring the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.    IPS reports ..... #1 Prize for a bizarre story.....and lying!

No comment called for in this piece from CommonDreams: Another young black man: The strange sad case of 21-year-old Chavis Carter. Police in Jonesboro, Arkansas  stopped  him and two friends, found some marijuana, searched put Carter, then put him handcuffed  behind his back  into their patrol car, where they say he  shot himself  in the head with a gun they failed to find. The FBI is investigating. Police Chief Michael Yates, who stands behind his officers' story,  says in an interview  that the death is "definitely bizarre and defies logic at first glance." You think?
