The now accused Time Square bomber was apprehended in the nick of time. The flight he was on had already left the gate at JFK in New York and was taxiing down the tarmac - when it was asked to return to the gate.
The accused was on the authority's No-Fly List. So, how did he get onto the flight in the first place?
The spin from the White House - as reported by Politico44:
- Gibbs defended law enforcement’s actions in catching Faisal Shahzad on a plane he had boarded despite being on the no-fly list. “This is an individual that was put on the no-fly list, and as a course of how the no-fly list works,” he said, “that plane didn’t fly, and that individual didn't fly.” The investigation includes the role that carriers play in monitoring the no-fly list, Gibbs added.
- Responding to a reporter who noted that the plane had already left the gate and was about to take off, Gibbs replied, “We’re working through some of the tick-tock.”
