Writing on CommonDreams, Abby Zimet reflects on the year just gone by - and what it brought with it in the form of looney notions, ideas, allegations, etc.etc.:
"By the lunar calendar we are entering the year of the tiger, said to connote bravery, always a good thing. But by the calendar governing most western news events, it must be said we are leaving behind the year of the sign. The lunatic teabaggers, wing-nutters and malcontents who somehow managed to equate health reform or, for that matter, any other reform with, simultaneously, Maoism, Marxism, Fascism, Communism, Dachau and the end of the uninsured world as we know it were dismaying in their anger and ignorance. Still, those signs! We may never see their like again – hopefully."
Go here to see, graphically, some of the more extraordinary looneys in action.
