A non US presidential candidate says it as it is on Iraq

General Petreaus, US Commander in Iraq, and the US ambassador to Iraq, have been appearing before a US Senate Committee.

The appearances afforded an opportunity for presidential candidates, McCain, Clinton and Obama to put their position on Iraq.

John Nichols, in The Nation, writes:

"So, as a senator, McCain failed the test Tuesday. But which Democrat offered the strongest challenge to the Petraeus-Crocker spin?

Clinton? Obama?

No, Russ Feingold.

The Democratic senator from Wisconsin, who is not running for president but probably should be, continued to take his job as a senator more seriously than any of his colleagues".

The NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) goes on hold.....because of one non-Treaty member (Israel)

Isn't there something radically wrong here? Israel, a non-signatory to the NPT has, evidently, been the cause for those countries that are Treaty members, notably Canada, the US and the UK, after 4 weeks of negotiation, effectively blocking off any meaningful progress in ensuring the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
