1 April is April Fool's Day! But it is also, today, the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the travails of initially Germany's Jews - and eventually those in other countries.
It is still hard to fathom, even now, how a so-called civiled and cultured country such as Germany saw itself taken over by the Nazis - a thuggish group of miscreants and misfits if there was one.
1 April 1933 marked the day when Germany began it's formal persecution of the Jews. They were to be boycotted in their businesses and their bank accounts seized.
We know all to well what the truly awful end and outcome for Europe's Jewry was.
